Thanks to all of you for your heartwarming support.

It's quite nice to come home to roomate's dog, who is a cheerful Jack Russell terrier. Although he is wet with Katrina of late and stinks accordingly.

A good soul has reminded me how welcome and appreciated my public prayers are, so I'll include another one here:

Dear Lord,

Please do your will in the land that's been blighted by the huge hurricane Katrina. Please comfort those who have lost a loved one, and protect the destroyed remnants of homes from lawlessness. Please open the hearts of your people who are in a position to help.

Amen.

First He has fun cooking up a deadly storm, then He gets praised for not causing quite as much damage as He could have (what with being omnipotent and all).

I think I'm out to shoot this one girl's puppy. She'll love me for comforting her afterwards.

I believe we developped a city above sea level. by garlic (2.00 / 0) #7 Wed Aug 31, 2005 at 03:30:34 PM EST
Then, we decided that it flooded all the time with the mississipi, so we built levies. Then the ground the city was on continued settling, but stopped getting the sludge from the floods and stopped being built back up. Eventually it was below sea level, and the levies were even more important.

It's all a part of theboz's plans to make New Orleans a domed city at the bottom of the ocean.

"Hello? Yes? I'm sorry, what? I just did what it said in the work order! Look i got the printout right here - 'make New Orleans doomed at the bottom of the ocean'. What? Sigh. Yeah ok, I've got a free slot next millenium to have a look at it. Look, I gotta go, there's a flood due in Burma. Bye."

Dear Lord,

Please do your will in the land that's been blighted by USian imperialism, in particular Bagdad where 900 lost their lives in a panic today. Please comfort those who have lost a loved one, and protect the destroyed remnants of homes from lawlessness. Please open the hearts of your people who are in a position to help.

Amen.

Fucking hell, it's 900 now? by MohammedNiyalSayeed (2.00 / 0) #9 Wed Aug 31, 2005 at 04:16:02 PM EST

Last I checked it was 600-some. Blech. What a day.

It's tricky to count people who's been crushed under a falling bridge and drowned.

Snowmail is very much worth subscribing to. Really quite insightful sometimes.
